At Canberra Theatre Centre you can watch not only plays from classic to contemporary, but also concerts and dance performances (www.canberratheatre.org.au). The centre is quite impressive and it's located on London Circuit, Civic Square. Tel 6275 2700 at the box office, between 9AM - 5.30PM Mon-Sat. More info and tickets at Canberra Ticketing.
