I know of two hotels in Darwin -- one is Value Inn, a great place to stay, I was very pleased. There are 3-persons rooms, with mini bathroom, bar fridge and TV. It's on 50 Mitchell Street and the prices vary from A$60 offseason (Nov-May) to A$90 from June to August. You can see details on www.ValueInn.com.au.
There is also the Barramundi Lodge. From what I've inquired about, it's quiet, it's clean, it's ok. The rooms have a kitchenette but the bathroom is communal. There's also pool and barbecue. Location: 4 Gardens road, The Gardens, with prices from AU$30-50 or AU$50 to 75 during season.
