For sure, the place to try is Brige Rd, in Richmond. You can get there if you take the tram no 48 or 75 from Flinders St. You'll find there cheap clothing, especially between Punt Rd and Church St, where there are factory outlets and seconds' stores. And further on, you'll find some nice cafes and used furniture stores.
