My experience in Perth wasn't a very good one, so I want to warn you not to make the same mistake I made: don't get a room at the YMCA-Jewell House. It's clean, no complaints there, but it's no fun. I've heard that the Hay St Backpackers is nice and has a good atmosphere (on 266-268 Hay St), but I haven't been there.
